Weekend Vibes

At the start of this week, I didn’t have much planned for the weekend. I ended up having a really bad migraine Tuesday and Wednesday so was looking forward to having a quiet weekend but sometimes plans change!

Friends Reunited

On Friday I got a message from a friend that was at uni in Aberdeen at the same time as me saying that her and her husband and kiddos were in Glasgow and wondered if I fancied a wee trip to ikea. She had told me earlier in the week they would be here but due to the migraine I forgot 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyways, it got me up at 9am on a Saturday and we went to ikea for breakfast and a wander… All I bought was a cafetière and some napkins while they picked up things for their house and for Christmas gifts.

Next stop was Home Bargains (there’s a new store near my flat which could be dangerous for the bank balance 😂). I picked up some Christmas cards, birthday cards and some bits and pieces for the flat (fabric softener, toilet roll, coffee for the cafetière… nothing exciting). As we walked down the skincare aisle, Donna-May recommended I try one of their facial serums.

The texture of my skin over the last week or so had been different to normal. The change of weather or not drinking enough water could be the culprit. My skin felt more dehydrated and bumpy but not spotty which isn’t something I’m used to. It meant my makeup would break down around my nose and end up a bit dry and patchy, so I was happy to try anything that might help revive my skin.

I picked up the Balance Active Formula Gold and Marine Collagen serum to see if it would make a difference… then it was back to my flat for a wee while before they left to go and do a few things and see family. It was so great spending a few hours with them. Hopefully I’ll get up to Aberdeen for a visit in the new year.

Saturday Skincare

I decided to try the Gold Marine Collagen Serum after removing my makeup. My skin was desperately in need of exfoliation so I tried a sample of Guinot Perfect Radiance Exfoliating Cream. Next up I tried Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (salicylic acid). This was bought in August as a birthday treat to myself but hadn’t got round to trying it until now. Doctors Formula Probiotic Eye Serum followed then it was a spritz of the Omorovicza mist before trying the Gold Marine Collagen Serum. Not sure what to expect of the serum, I accidentally used too much. The serum felt great on my face but left a bit of a sticky residue on my hands so a little goes a long way. Finally I used L’Oréal Triple Active Day Cream Moisturiser.

To be fair, I’m not sure if trying 3 new products at once was the best idea as my current L’Oréal moisturiser is making my skin sting for the first few minutes after applying. Overall, I was impressed by the results of the combination. My skin was left glowing.

This morning for church, I cleansed using Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser (I shared this on an Instagram post a while back), Omorovicza Mist (also bought in August but have been using for a few weeks), the gold marine collagen serum, probiotics eye serum and L’Oréal Triple Active moisturiser. My skin looked and felt so much better, smooth and glowy rather than dehydrated and textured. My makeup sat much better and lasted all day, but that might be because I used the Ciaté curated by Hannah Martin set that I used (a separate post will be coming on this soon).

Sociable Sunday

For some reason, I’ve not felt the most sociable recently… partly due to having more frequent migraines but also just learning what to say yes or no to so that I am taking time to rest. This year is full on at times as I am studying for a Digital Marketing course while still working full time.

It was great to be at church for the first time in a month, got to catch up with friends and met someone who works in the same college as me but for a different team… small world.

This afternoon I went over to a friends for lunch. It was such a relaxing afternoon catching up and getting to know one of her friends.

On the way to my friend’s house, I even took the time to scuff through the Autumn leaves.

We managed to catch the sunset from the balcony of her flat. It was a beauty.

This evening it was a joy to watch An Audience with Adele on STV or ITV. If you haven’t watched it yet, I would recommend.

And just like that… the weekend is almost over.

Hope you had a great weekend whatever you were up to and a good week ahead.
