Winter Wedding Style Under £100

Usually wedding season doesn’t start until Spring/Summer but I’ve got the joy of being a guest at my cousins wedding in February. I’m excited to celebrate her special day with family and friends in an amazing location. It’s going to be great.

Having lost weight over the past 10 months or so, it means I have nothing that fits that is suitable for a wedding so I need to shop for something new.

I would like to buy a dress or jumpsuit that I can dress up to wear at the wedding but can also wear at other times too not just for special occasions, I also need a blazer and shoes.

The first dress on my wishlist is one I tried in October when I had my personal shopping day with Leigh from Life with Style.

Mint Velvet Tessa Dress £129

This leopard print midi shirt dress with handkerchief hem is really flattering. I would keep accessories minimal with this and let the dress do the talking.

Paired with a black blazer. (I’ll do a blog post about blazers soon as there’s so many great ones out there)… but for now I’m loving a couple from M&S.

M&S Oversized Blazer £79

Shoes are where it gets tricky… I can’t really wear heels since I’ve had a stress fracture in my knee for years and then when I broke my ankle in 2016, but I think the dress would look great with a pop of colour in the shoes and a bit of height would be nice.

Here’s the sensible option that could be worn every day dressed up or down…

Next Forever Comfort Low Block Heels £38

These are available in leather and also a few other colours in suede but the other colours aren’t ones that would go with this dress.

I think I prefer the suede version to add some texture.

Another black pair but with a bit of a heel. These would also look great with jeans for a night out.

Topshop Jeri Court Shoes £65

These gorgeous leather pointed court shoes are classics that will elevate any outfit.

One of the perks of working in the college is that staff also have NUS student discount cards so I can get 10% off these beauties. Every little helps. Might have to try these depending what outfit I end up choosing.

You can’t beat a pop of red with leopard print and these shoes from Nine West are gorgeous and not too high (2.16″ heels).

I had an incredible pair of Nine West red shoes years ago but they would be far too high now. I think they maybe got taken to the charity shop in my big clear out last year.

Nine West – Red ‘Flagship 55’ Suedette Court Shoes £19

Only available in sizes 4, 5 and 6 at Debenhams.

These would be fab paired with jeans and a navy top or a navy dress… the options for red shoes are pretty endless.

Phase Eight – Red Maddy Two Part Kitten Heel Court Shoes £42.50

These two part court shoes with the bow add a bit of texture and interest to an outfit.

A slightly darker shade of red and a block heel may be slightly more practical in February if it’s cold and icy.

New Look Dark Red Suedette Low Block Heel Courts £19.99

I don’t tend to shop in Topshop very often, but occasionally I see a few things I like… I came across this dress when I was looking at the Jeri Court Shoes.

Animal Print is continuing to be a big trend for 2019. As you know I do love animal print.

Topshop Teal Animal Print Shirt Dress £49

Maybe this teal animal print is slightly more subtle for a winter wedding I probably wouldn’t style it with a belt for the wedding but if I was wearing it for work or a day out then I would. (Note to self – invest in a black belt).

Rather than wearing with boots for the wedding, I would style this dress with the Jeri Court Shoes and blazer (above) or these New Look black heels below.

New Look Black Suedette Block Heel Court Shoes £19.99

I’d finish the look with some of my favourite Stella & Dot jewellery. Stella & Dot has 20% everything in their closing down sale while stocks last, so grab a bargain while you can. Discount applied at checkout.

Stella & Dot Kari Fringe Necklace £48

This necklace can be worn long or short due to the pulley closure, I would wear it short with this dress so that it sits in the v-neck of the dress.

Available in gold or silver.

Stella & Dot Kari Earrings £34

Versatile earrings, can be worn as drop earrings or as hoops.

Available in gold or silver.

An arm party in one bracelet…

Stella & Dot Quinn Cuff £40

Available in gold or silver.

I’ve loved this Insta-famous Topshop dress but haven’t tried it on yet as it’s often been sold out in my size… it’s currently in stock so might have to give it a try…

Topshop Spot Pleated Shirt Dress £49

I have long legs and a short body so I’m not sure how high the splits will be. I would wear it with tights, the black M&S blazer and the Jeri Court Shoes shown above and a black bag.

For this dress, I would accessorise with statement earrings and a statement cuff.

Stella & Dot Georgia Earrings £38

Stella & Dot Essential Sculptural Bangle – Large – Gold £42

Hush is always a winner when it comes to finding a great dress. They have a great sale on at the moment and usually there’s some great finds on eBay too.

This beauty is on sale on Hush website:

Serena Handkerchief Dress £70

I would style this with a black blazer and maybe black shoes and I have a black bag or a red Ted Baker clutch from a wedding a few years ago that would work well with this outfit.

Stella & Dot Roman Chandeliers £34

A pop of red in the earrings would tie this look together.

Earrings also available in white would look great too.

Stella & Dot Rhett Cuff – Gold £48

M&S Collection Ponte Blazer £59

Another blazer to layer over dresses/pair with jeans… the gold buttons make it seem less formal, less like a suit jacket but still a wardrobe staple.

This blazer has structured shoulders and a nipped in waist so creates definition. It may just be a tad short for me but will give it a try. Has anyone else tried this? What did you think?

Hush Tansy Dress – Confetti Green £50

This dress worn with tights, black court shoes and a blazer would be a great outfit for the wedding and would work hard in my wardrobe with ankle boots and a chunky scarf for a Saturday lunch with the girls or shopping trip and would work well in a Scottish summer with gold sandals.

As this dress has a pattern, I would keep the accessories simple with the new Rebel collection.

Stella & Dot Stone Rebel Pendant – Rose Gold £69

The celebrity loved best selling Rebel Pendant has had an upgrade. This rose gold pendant features 2 in 1 versatility with rose gold on one side and semi-precious larvikite on the other.

Also available in gold with calcite.

Stella & Dot Stone Rebel Bracelet – Rose Gold £34

Also available in gold with calcite.

Stella & Dot Stone Rebel Studs – Rose Gold £24

Rose gold studs featuring semi-precious lavrikite.

Also available in gold with calcite.

Hush Yasmin Dress £60

I love a shirt dress, the style suits my shape and there’s no reason that the right one can’t be worn for a wedding.

This dress from Hush in a beautiful rich green shade with gold pattern can be dresses up with a blazer and court shoes or dresses down with a biker jacket and ankle boots or trainers.

Finish the look with this dress with earrings and a bracelet stack.

I love mixed metals at the moment.

Stella & Dot Renegade Hoops £28

Stella & Dot Anda Wishing Bracelet – Strength £46

Gold and white hand strung mix of beautiful vintage gold and earthy beau teal beads with a pulley closure.

Stella & Dot Renegade Stretch Bracelet £45

Vintage gold and silver spikes adorn this bracelet. Wear alone or add to an arm party.

Yumi Floral Jacquard Dress – Black £45

This dress while it’s black has a bold pop of colour so would look great for a winter wedding with court shoes but would also look great in spring/summer with sandals.

Finish the look with statement rose gold studs and bracelet.

Stella & Dot Juliana Studs £40

Genuine black and rose gold leather petals fold against sparkly accents in these statement studs.

Stella & Dot Juliana Wrap Bracelet £35

Genuine perforated black leather reverses to beautiful rose gold metallic in this easy double wrap bracelet.

Another black patterned dress this time from Warehouse at John Lewis.

Warehouse Star Tree Print Midi Dress – Black Pattern £52

For a wedding I would pair with red or maybe cobalt blue shoes to add a pop of colour or metallic shoes and finish the look with Stella & Dot Rhett Hoop Earrings.

Stella & Dot Rhett Hoops £28

It’s not all about pattern… there’s some gorgeous plain dresses out there too.

Monsoon Alba Wrap Kimono Dress £30

I love the green colour of this dress and that it defines the waist, pair with a blazer for a wedding or a biker and ankle boots for a girls night out and you’re good to go.

Pearls are always appropriate… finish the look with a pearl statement necklace.

Stella & Dot Eve Bib Necklace £136

This statement is great to dress up or wear over your favourite tee.

Stella & Dot Essential Pearl Studs £26

Stella & Dot Natriella Cuff £58

In collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff these special pieces are both delicate and powerful, bold and approachable.

A genuine freshwater pearl caps the end of a sleek shiny gold cuff.

If a statement necklace isn’t your thing, why not pair with some pearl hoops instead.

Stella & Dot Natriella Pearl Hoops £58

Genuine freshwater pearls suspend from a sleek shiny gold hoop.

Kin Kimono Dress – Burgundy £79

For a winter wedding, the 3/4 kimono sleeves and rich burgundy colour of this dress are perfect.

The pleat down the middle will skim the tummy area and flatter most body shapes.

I personally am not a fan of white shoes other than trainers but that’s just me. I’d either pair this dress with leopard block heels or black ones.

Next Point Block Heel Shoes – Leopard £48

These would add interest to a plain coloured dress and blazer.

Also available in black.

Next Point Block Heel – Black £38

I think I prefer these to the lower block heels that I listed earlier in the post.

Finish the look with statement earrings and a statement cuff.

Stella & Dot Colour Pop Versatile Hoops – Gold £42

Wear these earrings in any way you like… burgundy or black, grey or pink, gold discs or just hoops or any combination. These would be a mini statement earring with to pair with this dress.

Stella & Dot Emma Triple Wrap Bracelet £50

Each beautiful light grey and mixed metal bead is hand-embroidered with couture craftsmanship backed by suede to create this luxe triple wrap bracelet. Looks great worn alone or layered with other styles!

M&S Collection V-Neck Short Sleeve Shift Mini Dress £49.50

This azure blue dress from M&S is a timeless classic that would work for all seasons.

Also available in black, but I’m loving the blue. If I was to wear this dress to a winter wedding, I would probably style it with a blazer, black tights and black shoes and a leopard scarf as a wrap to keep warm.

This dress would look fab paired with wedges or metallic sandals in summer. It could also be worn for work/nights out so definitely would get a lot of wear out of this one.

These mustard sling back court shoes are great for a pop of colour but not sure I would wear tights with them so wouldn’t be my choice for this wedding but could possibly work for a spring/summer wedding.

As an alternative to mustard shoes for the wedding, I would maybe add some leopard print block heels as shown above.

Jaeger Jersey Wrap Dress – Plum £65

A wrap dress usually suits most body shapes so this could be ideal depending on the colour of the dress in the flesh.

Paired with the leopard print shoes above and a black handbag/clutch for a wedding. This dress would also go from office to bar effortlessly.

I would finish the look with a statement necklace and arm party or just a mixed metal bracelet.

Stella & Dot Essential Fringe Necklace £54

Stella & Dot Dolly Bracelet £28

Hand-beaded semi-precious hematite mixed with vintage gold and silver beads creates an instant arm party! Mix, match and stack it with other bracelets to create your favourite combination.

I’ve not seen quite as many jumpsuits that I like, but here’s some…

Phase Eight Angie Tie Front Jumpsuit, Emerald £42.07

A dark green classic v-neck and tie detailing designed to flatter the figure with wide leg trousers.

Paired with court shoes or metallic sandals.

Finish the look with statement earrings and a statement cuff.

Stella & Dot Pegasus Earrings £44

These striking statement earrings feature vintage gold feather motifs with shiny silver chain detail, all hand sewn on genuine leather.

Stella & Dot Pegasus Bracelet £78

This striking statement bracelet has a vintage gold feather motif with hand embroidered bugle beads for a pop of sparkle.

Finery Alida Wide Leg Jumpsuit, Black/Multi £64.50

I would style this with red or burgundy shoes or maybe green or cobalt… it definitely needs a pop of colour for a wedding.

Finish the look with colourful statement earrings.

Stella & Dot Novak Chandeliers £46

Textured vintage gold posts hold a bright pop of red, shimmery cobalt, and cool metallic. Each ring brings colourful movement to these statement chandeliers.

So that’s a few dresses, jumpsuits, shoes and accessories combos I’ve found that I think would be suitable for a winter wedding but would also work hard in for seasons to come. What’s your fave?

Have you seen any great dresses lately? Please let me know in the comments or drop me an email, I’d love to know.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Gill x
