It seems like finding the perfect pair of comfortable flat sandals that that don’t rub on your feet and cause blisters is a yearly challenge. I’m a size 6 and have narrow feet but since breaking my ankle last year, I need sandals that have a rubber sole that gives some kind of shock absorber when walking, which is all kinds of annoying as there’s so many pretty ones on the high street at the moment that have hard soles but I know my ankle and an old knee injury (that still flares up from time to time) won’t thank me for it.
I have my trusty gold Lotus gladiator sandals from Debenhams a couple of years ago (but I wore them yesterday and I now have blisters at work). At the moment I have my eye on a few pairs from Dune. First up the Londoner £55 available from Dune, John Lewis and House of Fraser websites.
Both the taupe and navy would be perfect for my holiday as they would go with pretty much all of my outfits. These are soft nubuck and have a cute charm attached to the buckle. They look really comfy so think I might have to pop into store this week and give them a try. (If they’re the ones… I’ll have to be restrained and only buy one pair).
Next up it’s the Dune Lugo available for £70 from John Lewis
I love a metallic sandal as it really does go with every outfit. I saw these the other day when a friend wore them and said how comfy they were. I like that these are more of a flatform and give a bit of height so would look great going from day to night. I usually tend to go for gold rather than rose gold but this might be a nice change. Also available in Taupe (which is more of a silver/charcoal grey)
I’ve had my eye on these sliders from H&M for a while… I’ve not had a chance to try them on, but I might pick them up in store this week for the bargain price of £17.99. Not sure that they will go with much other than navy, blue or denim but that makes up a lot of my wardrobe so surely that’s ok?
I’ve just ordered a couple of pairs of Toms sandals so I’ll let you know how I get on with them.
First up it’s the Clara sandals from Schuh in the sale for £39.99.The stone colour is perfect to go with every outfit and the suede insole seems like it will be comfortable.
Update… I’ve got these on at work today and they are super comfy! Toms tend to be narrow so they usually always fit me well.
Next up it’s the Clarita sandals in black from House of Fraser £64.99. This black slider looks like it will go with every outfit on my holiday and the suede insole looks like it will be soft and comfy. Having broken my ankle last year, I have found Toms shoes offer great support and act as a good shock absorber for me.
Update: I got home earlier and tried the Toms Clarita Sandals that arrived today in a size 6 (my usual size) and have just ordered a size 7 to compare. I’m not sure if the 6 might just be slightly too small or if it’s just because the insole is still so soft and bouncy and hasn’t been worn in yet so no harm in comparing and sending a pair back. Like the Clara sandals they are narrow so when I settle on the right size, hopefully it won’t take too long for them to break in and they’ll be my comfy go to sandals for my upcoming holiday.
I had a look at Marks & Spencer website and nothing took my fancy and tried a few pairs of Clarks sandals on yesterday at lunchtime but even the standard fitting were too wide (which isn’t usually the case for me in their shoes).
A sandals round up wouldn’t be complete without some of my favourite flip flops.
My all time faves are my Freewaters Kitz flip flops I bought in Dubai a couple of years ago.
I love the multicoloured stripe and that they can be worn with pretty much any outfit. The suede insole and arch have made these the comfiest flip flops I’ve owned. I’ve worn them to death (the sole now has no grip left) so currently debating ordering another pair in a different design (possibly leopard print).
I have my trusty Fat Face Bay Flip Flops usually for by the pool or beach on holiday, but they have done well this summer. I’ve worn them loads.
This pair of navy Bay Flip Flops have replaced my old ones which have seen better days after walking 18.5 miles round Birmingham the other weekend.
Think I might pop into Fat Face and pick up a new pair of black Bay Flip Flops for my holiday… I love elephants and the print on my black flip flops have all faded.
I’d love to hear your favourite sandals/Flip Flops.
