Beauty Benefits

Last week I went to pick up a few of my usual products from Benefit. When I arrived at the counter, I was greeted by three friendly Benebabes… since they were fairly quiet, I had the opportunity of trying some of their products… first came skincare (which is something I definitely need to prioritise more due to hurtling ever closer to my mid thirties)… my face was cleansed with Remove It make-up remover, then moisturised with Triple Performing Facial Emulsion (which smells amazing) and It’s Potent Eye Cream was used to soothe under the eyes and as an attempt to tackle dark circles, then come the amazing products… some of which I had used over the years and some were new to me or had changed slightly.

Porefessional Pearl (when I worked for Benefit in 2011, the original Porefessional had just launched… I’m a fan of the original so was looking forward to meeting Pearl). Porefessional primer… acts as a magnet for your make-up holding it in place all day, minimising pores without clogging them and giving a flawless finish. Porefessional Pearl does all of that while giving more of a glow underneath foundation! I’ve definitely been converted to Porefessional Pearl!

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation in Ivory – gorgeous lightweight foundation  that is easily buildable. Applied with a brush, but I would tend to apply with a damp beauty blender as it’s quick, easy and gives a more even finish.

Boing Brightening Concealer (used to be Erase Paste) – great for covering the dark circles under the eyes. Thankfully I didn’t have any blemishes that day.

Brows – the two products I went in to House of Fraser to purchase in the first place… Precisely My Brow and Gimme Brow…. I used to use Brow Zings all the time but having watched a lot of Lisa Potter Dixon’s videos, she’s convinced me that Precisely My Brow pencil is the way to go! I bought shade 3 and it’s perfect for me all year round since I change my hair colour a few times a year. Once I’ve applied it. I sweep through some Gimme Brow.

Benefit They’re Real Duo Eyeshadow – this is the first time I’d tried this… it’s the easiest way to do a smoky eye in seconds… if you’re in a rush or just can’t be bothered faffing with eye make up, this is perfect. I tried Naughty Neutral… it’s great for every day. I felt like trying a bold lip so didn’t want to go for too much eye make-up.

As a die hard They’re Real mascara lover, when Benefit brought out Bad Gal Bang mascara at the end of last year, I wasn’t convinced I would like it so I held off for a month or so, but having seen a few reviews of it… I couldn’t resist… and… I love it! I think it’s maybe my favourite Benefit mascara and that’s a bold claim. They were running out of the tester in House of Fraser so only managed to get one coat of it when I got my make up done, but I put on another when I got home.

Hoola Lite – didn’t exist when I worked for Benefit in 2011 and regular Hoola is way too dark for me, I’m a fan of the new lighter shade… think that’ll be one I’ll be picking up next time I’m in.

Gold Rush – gorgeous golden nectar blusher. A nice change from my usual Rockateur or Coralista in summer.

Dandelion Twinkle – I love a highlighter and high beam or watts up were my old faithfuls until they released Dandelion Twinkle… I don’t know what I’d do without it. I wear it every day and love it.

They’re Real Double The Lip in Ruthless Red. Im not usually one for a red lip, but thought I’d give it a go for a change and I actually loved the colour, I was disappointed with the lipstick though. Although it lasted ok, it transferred easily… so I now have a lovely lipstick mark on a scarf that the wind caught and blew into my face! Maybe I need to look for a more matte liquid lip colour or lip stain that doesn’t transfer. Any ideas? Please comment below or drop me an email. Thanks.

Heres the finished look! Sadly you can’t see the lashes due to my glasses but the mascara is great… you’ll just have to take my word for it or pop into your local Benefit counter and give it a try!
